MONROE, NC - (February 5, 2008) - Jay Robinson Racing announced today that Robert Richardson Jr. will be behind the wheel of the #4 JVC Chevy for the inaugural NASCAR Nationwide Series Camping World 300 race at Daytona International Speedway on February 16th, 2008. The Team and JVC are looking forward to unveiling the #4 JVC Chevy on one of the biggest weekends and stages in NASCAR. “Our Team is very excited to be associated with a brand as prestigious and successful as JVC. JVC is recognized around the world for their continuing innovation in the field of consumer electronics and we are looking forward to the partnership during the 2008 NASCAR Nationwide Season” said owner Jay Robinson.
The sponsorship agreement between JVC and JRR will be a year long relationship. The package includes five primary races starting with Daytona, when the #4 JVC Chevy EVERIO Gem color scheme is unveiled and also includes an associate for the remainder of the #4 Chevy’s season. JVC will be present at select NASCAR race midways during the season to allow fans to enjoy The Perfect JVC Experience for themselves. The NASCAR Nationwide Camping World 300 at Daytona International Speedway will be the third time driver Robert Richardson Jr. races on the superspeedway in the series. Robert ran both races last year in Daytona for the Jay Robinson Racing Team. “Robert has shown great promise and is the type of up-and-comer that JVC is proud to be associated with,” said Karl Bearnarth, senior vice president, marketing, JVC Company of America.
During the preseason practice on Friday afternoon January 18th at Daytona International Speedway, Robert and the #4 JVC Chevy ran third fastest overall, laying down a lap time of 49.374 seconds. On Saturday the 19th Robert and the #4 JVC Chevy were fast once again, this time putting down a lap of 49.232 seconds and sitting twelfth fastest on the board for the day. “I am thrilled to represent JVC in the inaugural Nationwide Series race at Daytona and ecstatic to have them on board as a sponsor. I would like to capitalize on our experience from last years Daytona races and make a good competitive run for JVC. I love racing the superspeedways and the #4 JVC Chevy was running extremely strong during testing at Daytona, so needless to say we are all excited for the race week ahead” said driver Robert Richardson Jr.
Practice sessions for the NASCAR Nationwide Series Camping World 300 will be at 3:00 -4:20pm/et, Wednesday, February 13 & 9:15 -10:15am/et, Thursday, February 14. ESPN2 will have live coverage of Nationwide practice from Daytona International Speedway on February 14, 2008 at 9:30am/et. Qualifying will be at 3:10pm/et, Friday, February 15. The live qualifying show will also be aired on ESPN2. The NASCAR Nationwide Series Camping World 300 coverage begins on ESPN2 Saturday, February 16th at 1pm/et.
