MONROE, NC - (July 18, 2007) - Jay Robinson Racing announced today that rookie driver Robert Richardson Jr. will be driving the #28 Checkers/Rally’s - U.S. Border Patrol Chevy during the NASCAR Busch Series 250 at Gateway International Raceway. This will be the second race that the new Checkers/Rally’s “Late Night” car will be on the track. The “Late Night” campaign and paint scheme was kicked off two weeks earlier in Daytona and Robert drove the car to a 26th place finish. “I really like the way the “Late Night” Checkers/Rally’s car looks and we were definitely fast in Daytona. I hope to build on things and run a good race at Gateway. The week off seemed like it took forever, and I am just excited to be back on the track racing” said Robert Richardson Jr.
The event will be the ninth race of the Checkers/Rally’s eleven race sponsorship. ESPN2 will have live coverage of qualifying Saturday from Gateway International Raceway and will also televise Friday night’s practice. Practice will air at 7 p.m. ET Friday and the live qualifying show will air at 4:30 p.m. Saturday. ESPN2 will televise Busch Series racing live in prime time Saturday, July 21, from Gateway International Raceway, as the series makes its one and only appearance of 2007 at the 1.25-mile superspeedway. The telecast of Busch Series 250 race at Gateway starts at 8:30 p.m.
This week joining Car 28 as The Major Associate Sponsor will be The U.S. Border Patrol and associate sponsors include the Millennium Hotel, Smith Transport and CMO Music.
