Mooresville, NC (September 1, 2009) – Robert Richardson Jr. will be back behind the wheel of the No. 23 Mahindra Tractors Chevrolet for Saturday’s Degree V12 300 at Atlanta Motors Speedway. The race will be the 26th event in the 2009 Nationwide Series season.
Richardson says he is ready to take on the tough 1.54-mile oval.
“I think a lot of people don’t realize just how fast Atlanta is,” says Richardson. “When most people think of the really fast tracks, they seem to mention Talladega and Daytona the most. Those places are fast, but trust me, Atlanta is just as fast. You are really hauling the mail around that place.
“Atlanta’s got a couple of different grooves so you can race side-by-side, which makes it more fun for the drivers and the fans. Plus, we’re gonna finish the race under the lights, which will bring a whole other level of excitement. I can’t wait to get on the track.”
Steve Plattenberger - Crew Chief: “Everyone at R3 Motorsports is ready to get back to the track, especially at a fun track like Atlanta. “We had a great week last week (finished seventh in Montreal) so everybody’s been really pumped up this week. We’ve all got an extra bounce in our step. That’s the kind of progress we have been making this year.
“It’s been a few races since Robert’s been behind the wheel for us, so we know he’s looking forward to getting back out there. I really love working with him. He’s a hard-nosed competitor and we know he’s going to gives us his best every time out.
“Hopefully, we’ll put on another great show for the people at Mahindra and bring home another top-10 finish for them.”
