ROBERT RICHARDSON JR. FAST FACTS – RICHMOND

Mooresville, NC (September 8, 2009) – Robert Richardson Jr. will be making his second consecutive start in the No. 23 Mahindra Tractors Chevrolet as the NASCAR Nationwide Series heads to Richmond International Raceway for Friday’s Virginia 529 College Savings 250.

“Most of the drivers will tell you that Richmond is one of their favorite tracks,” said Richardson. “I feel the same way. It’s a fast track but it’s got plenty of room, so you can race side-by-side without wrecking each other and that’s rare on a short track. That type of action always makes for a great race at Richmond, both for the drivers and the fans.

“We had a decent finish last week (finished 22nd), but we know that we’re capable of finishing higher. Everyone at R3 Motorsports has been working hard to give me good cars and I appreciate their efforts. We’re getting better as team each week and that’s all you can ask for.”

Steve Plattenberger - Crew Chief: “I think the main thing for us is just to continue the momentum that we have going. We had a top-10 finish in Montreal a couple of weeks ago and another strong finish last week. We’re running competitively and bringing the cars home in one piece. That’s how you get better as a team. It’s hard for the driver or the team to get better when the car is behind pit wall all torn up. We’ve been able to avoid situations like that and that’s been a key to us improving each week.”
