Earning His Rookie Stripes: Robert Richardson Jr. will attempt to earn his rookie stripes in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series this weekend at Talladega Superspeedway.
Robert Richardson Jr. on Driving for Tommy Baldwin Racing: “I am really excited to have this opportunity with Tommy Baldwin Racing and Mahindra Tractors. Tommy’s cars always run well at the Superspeedways and I am confident we will qualify into the race on time. My goal is to run clean, avoid wrecks and come home with a solid finish. This race is really important in getting approved so I will be eligible to run the Daytona 500. Talladega is one of my favorite tracks and I can’t think of a better place to attempt my first Sprint Cup Series start.”
Double Duty: Robert Richardson Jr. is attempting to pull double duty at Talladega Superspeedway this weekend. Richardson will attempt to qualify for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Mountain Dew 250 with his R3 Motorsports team in the R3 Motorsports No. 71 Mahindra Tractors Chevrolet. Richardson will also attempt to qualify for his first NSCS start in the Amp Energy 500 driving for Tommy Baldwin Racing in the No. 36 Mahindra Tractors Toyota.
Richardson’s Talladega Truck History: Richardson made one NCWTS start at Talladega Superspeedway in 2006 when he started 35th and finished 16th in what was his first start at the 2.66-mile Superspeedway.
Richardson’s NCWTS History: Richardson has 23 career truck series starts. He made three starts in 2005 before attempting the entire schedule in 2006. Richardson’s best truck series finishes of 16th and 17th came at the Superspeedways, Talladega and Daytona.
This Week’s Truck: Chassis No. 77. Plattenberger and the No. 71 team are bringing chassis No. 77 to Talladega Superspeedway this weekend. This will be the first race for R3 Motorsports and this chassis.
Robert Richardson Jr. on Racing at Talladega: “I am really excited to race the Mahindra Tractors truck at Talladega. It is one of my favorite tracks on the NASCAR circuit. Talladega has been one of the smoothest tracks on the circuit since it was repaved. It has one of the best racing surfaces. I have had my best NASCAR finishes at this track and I am looking forward to a great weekend. It will be fun running in both the Truck and Cup Series races.”
